Paying attention to your cravings could save your life!
Chocolate craving may mean a lot more than just a need for a
sugar high! It can also tell you that you are deficient in
minerals… Since chocolate contains relatively high amount
of magnesium, and your cravings may indicate you need
even more. Losing Magnesium from the body comes about
when the adrenal glands are fatigued. Mineral deficiencies
also commonly occur with the use of diuretics (water pills).
Or from pancreatic problems such as diabetes or a low
production of hydrochloric acid from the stomach,
(Common in antacid use.) or it could be from drinking lots
of milk.
Chocolate craving - one of the first things to eliminate for
people lacking magnesium induced cravings is milk. Milk
can set you up for a mineral deficiency! The synthetic
vitamin D (calciferol) that producers add to milk binds
with magnesium and other minerals and washes them
out of the body.
Fluorine - from fluoridated water supplies and fluoridated
products - also washes magnesium, vitamins and other
minerals out of the body.
Evidence is mounting showing that people with heart
problems need to make sure they're getting enough
magnesium in their diets. Something the alternative
medical world has known for years. Research studies
from several countries are just now catching up with
Naturopathic medicine. The studies have shown that
inadequate levels of magnesium create arrhythmias
(abnormal heart rates) and cause some to have heart
attacks.
Magnesium has many functions not only in relation
to the heart but throughout the body. Inadequate
levels can lead to:
Leg cramps - Heart and blood vessel disease and
Clogging - Kidney stones - Osteoporosis - Psoriasis -
Depression.
Other Causes for magnesium and other mineral
depletions are;
Alcoholism, poor diet, fast food, dieting, anorexia
to name a few. Certain types of heart disease can
also lead to magnesium depletion. Well, not really
the heart disease but the medications for treating
congestive heart failure and heart diseases. Leading
the way in those medications being diuretics (water
pills), which actually deplete all mineral stores.
Magnesium is found in the chlorophyll of green
leafy plants and vegetables. Other sources include
seafood, corn, nuts (especially almonds), apples,
wheat germ, and soybeans. A good multivitamin in
either capsule, powder or liquid should contain no
less than 300 to 500 mg of magnesium, but in those
small doses will still require adding seafood, whole
grains, green vegetables, and nuts to your daily diet
to adequately receive sufficient amounts.
Much larger doses are needed for people taking
prescription medications, NSAIDS and a multitude
of other over-the-counter medications.
Remember also, if you take separate magnesium
supplements, which are alkaline in nature you'll need
to take them before meals. If taken after meals they
will neutralize your stomach acid and make food
digestion more difficult setting you up for stomach
and intestinal problems. This does not apply with
Liquid Ionic Minerals, which have all 84 necessary
minerals and trace minerals that is known to be the
exact makeup of our blood plasma and combines
with the food for better absorption and health!
Next time you crave that chocolate supplement
minerals first!
Be mindful of what your body is telling you, even
when you're just craving chocolate. To prevent this
from happening, sugar cravings may be cut with
adequate amounts of vitamins and minerals added
to your daily diet…
A note here on minerals and vitamins…
If insufficient minerals are in the body you cannot
absorb enough vitamins to be healthy… See
