Gluttony, The Forgotten Sin

You have heard the scripture passage 1 Corinthians 3:16 "Are you not
aware that you are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God
dwells in you?" What people forget to mention is the verse that comes
after that. "If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him.
For the Temple of God is holy, and you are that temple." Pretty
clear, don't you think?

I don't normally present topics from this point of view, but I
believe that this specific topic, obesity, bears looking at from all
different angles. This just happens to be one that most people
forget about. And it can be a powerful motivator if you have been
wanting to do something about your weight but haven't had the extra
push you needed to do it.

Food has become dangerous in our society today. With all of the
chemicals added to processed foods, any food that is not natural has
become very addictive! Once you are addicted to foods, you are
headed for a downward spiral into the abyss of excess weight,
discomforts, diseases, and gluttony.

Remember that gluttony is one of the 'seven deadly sins'. So what
exactly is gluttony in today's world? If I had to pick one way
to
let people know that they have been indulging this particular sin, it
would be a simple test. Look in the mirror. If you are carrying
excess weight, you are probably indulging more than you should be.
I have been overweight and can attest to all of the self-loathing and
self-hatred that goes on when you are overweight. Do you think that
is the attitude that you should have towards the one thing that God
gave you to go through this life with? We can't ask him, but I bet
if we could he would say that we are to love our bodies. After all,
they are the temple of God!

Not only is the attitude a problem when you are overweight, but also
the job that you are asking your body to do! Picture someone you
love very much. Now picture asking that person to do the worst thing
imaginable! A job that they cannot possibly perform! Setting them
up for failure! Would you do that to your spouse? Your children?
Your parents? So why do we do it to our bodies?

If you decide to challenge yourself to a real weight loss program and
sign up for Take Back Your Health, you will learn a lot of
interesting things about your body. One of the main things that you
will learn is that your body only has a certain capacity to process
and digest food. Eating foods that your body cannot digest is asking
it to do work that it cannot possibly perform! You are setting your
body up for failure in so many ways. Failure of necessary operations
within your body that will result in disease. Failure in your body's
ability to lose weight.

So many people separate themselves from their body like it is an
enemy of some sort. I used to do it! True healing can only come
from loving your body and deciding to give it a job that it can do
efficiently and successfully! Once you do this, your body will lose
weight effortlessly and more quickly than you ever thought possible.
Your body will show you what great things it is capable of if you are
not fighting with it asking it essentially to fail!

You are in the battle of good versus evil. Evil is what the foods of
today do to your body. You need to be respectful and good to your
temple. It is the only one you get!
