The Great Vitamin C Rip-off (Part II)

Copyright 2004 William R. Quesnell

Cancer thrives on glucose and ascorbic acid. Studies from the
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center showed that tumors
do better in a high ascorbic acid environment.

Perhaps this is why large doses of ascorbic acid did not protect
nor save Linus Pauling from prostate cancer.

Fortunately, most of this synthetic is excreted as bright yellow
urine, because it is toxic to our liver and kidneys.

As nominal doses of ascorbic acid are poorly absorbed,
ascorbic acid results in minimal biological action. There are no
studies showing that intake of ascorbic acid protects people from
sickness. Natural vitamin C complex, however, is a different
matter altogether.

Ascorbic acid has no effect on the disease we know as scurvy.
But natural vitamin C complex eliminates scurvy.

More than 100 recent studies have found that people who eat
diets rich in fruits and vegetables are about half as likely to
develop cancer as people who eat few fruits and vegetables.

When you peel and eat an orange, you put a lot more into your
system than ascorbic acid.

You get the benefit of the entire naturally occurring vitamin C
complex in which ascorbic acid serves as the protector, the
antioxidant wrapper, preventing oxidation or deterioration of the
functional parts of the complex.

In addition to ascorbic acid, the vitamin C complex contains
tyrosinase, the organic form of the mineral copper which serves
as an activator for many of your metabolic enzymes.

Vitamin C complex contains rutin, critical for maintaining the
strength of blood vessels and other collagen-containing tissues;
and bioflavanoids, vital for keeping our collagen healthy.

It contains the "K" factor that supports the clotting mechanism of
blood and the health and strength of our organs, glands, and
tissues.

It contains the "J" factor that supports the oxygen-carrying
capacity of the blood and is thus important to all cells.

It also contains ascorbigen, one of the substances found in
Brassica vegetables like cabbage and broccoli, that has
cancer-fighting properties.

Here are ten high yield food sources of vitamin C complex:

Acerola cherry 483 milligrams per ounce of food material
Guava 55
Hot chili peppers 45
Kiwi 30
Fresh O.J. 26
Black currants 25
Red bell pepper 24
Litchis 20
Papaya 17
Citrus fruits 15

Are you lousy at fruit? Do you have trouble squeezing oranges?

HealthForce Nutritionals [http://www.healthforce.net] offers the
entire complex as dehydrated acerola cherry powder, which is
non-toxic, highly absorbable and not excreted as bright yellow
urine.

Sonne's Organic Foods [http://www.sonnes.com/] provides the
entire natural complex in tablet form: their Sonne's No. 17
